Charli XCX Plays a Twisted Persona of Her Own Identity in Satirical Film Teaser

Charli XCX is gearing up for a major cinematic onslaught in 2026, beginning with the mockumentary titled The Moment.

In the film, she embodies what she refers to as a dark version of her public image.

It’s the truest representation of the music industry that I’ve ever encountered, the star remarked.

She elaborated in an interview: This isn’t a concert film, but the idea originated from the expectation to make one.

An Early Look into The Project

The debut trailer, launched on Thursday, combines real clips from Charli’s Sweat tour with fictionalized backstage scenes.

The mockumentary is overseen and co-authored by the director, who explained that the story focuses on a world where the artist took completely different paths throughout the publicity of her hugely successful record Brat.

Star-Studded Lineup

  • Rachel Sennott
  • Alexander Skarsgård
  • Kate Berlant
  • Kylie Jenner

A Busy Film Calendar

The mockumentary is only one of several forthcoming movie projects for the musician, who recently featured in three festival films in the current year.

  1. Friendship drama Erupcja
  2. Humorous suspense film Sacrifice
  3. Queer fairytale 100 Nights of Hero

She also played herself in the comedy series Overcompensating.

Upcoming Projects

The coming year will also include the artist with Olivia Wilde in romantic thriller I Want Your Sex, Natalie Portman in art world thriller The Gallerist, and Barbie Ferreira in scary reboot Faces of Death.

Additionally, she signed on to star in Dakota Johnson’s maiden directing project A Tree in Blue.

I’m thoroughly loving my foray into acting, Charli stated. I’m highly enthusiastic currently in this area, and I only ever aim to pursue things that inspire me.

Soundtrack Involvement

The month of February will also bring the release of Emerald Fennell’s interpretation of Wuthering Heights, which will include new music from the artist.

Additionally, she will create the soundtrack for the story Mother Mary, featuring Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel, planned for launch in the coming year.

The mockumentary will be released on 30 January.
